LOBBY
CORPS
Lobby Corps
When the Florida Legislature begins its annual 60-day Session, the Tallahassee League’s Lobby Corps is front and center to advocate on behalf of Florida League priorities, and because we are in the state capital we are well positioned for this exciting role.
Our statewide grassroots membership determines specific legislative goals within various policy issues each year. Under the direction of the League of Women Voters Florida Board of Directors and with guidance and input from our professional lobbyists and League Issue Chairs, Lobby Corps volunteers make the League’s voice heard loud and clear. We know your volunteer time may be limited so we have different opportunities depending upon your level of involvement, including:

-
Interview and educate Legislators regarding League positions and priorities;
-
Write letters to Senators and Representatives in response to Calls to Action;
-
Stand in Solidarity at rallies, marches, and press conferences;
-
Pen opinion editorials;
-
Testify in support or opposition to filed bills;
-
Attend hearings, or watch via the Florida Channel, and prepare synopses of events; and
-
Speak at press conferences.
Everything we say and do is carefully orchestrated to assure the League speaks with one consistent voice. Thus, orientation is provided to new Lobby Corps volunteers, as well as ongoing training in advance of the start of each Legislative Session and during Lobby Days in Tallahassee.
Please join us as we spread the message; the next Legislative Session is always “right around the corner!”
