Savannah Lebedeker

After experiencing the negative impacts of poor environmental policies in 2018, resulting in red tide affecting her hometown waterways, Savannah developed an early interest in studying public policy. Today, she is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Environmental Science and Policy at Florida State University.

Throughout her time at FSU, she has worked to increase student civic engagement and understanding of policies that directly impact students. From serving on the Civic Engagement Board during her freshman year and acting as a founding member of the Sunshine Society, an organization that aims to break down legislation for students in a digestible manner, to serving as Political Education Director for the Women’s Student Union, Savannah has dedicated her time at FSU to ensuring students have the tools and knowledge necessary to be active participants in politics.

Additionally, Savannah has found an interest in working to make course materials more affordable for students. Through serving as a coordinator for FSU PIRG’s (Public Interest Research Group) Textbook Affordability Campaign, she has organized a textbook donation drive and gave public comments concerning changes to the automatic billing processes that many universities adopt which negatively affect students. This past year, she has researched and designed a “Library in a Box” project which aims to address literacy and technological disparities in rural communities located in Southern United States and the Global South. Savannah previously served as Vice President of FSU PIRG and was elected President for the 2024/2025 school year.
